Our satellite Share-A-Pot (SAP) programme celebrated its 5th anniversary online this year with a fun-filled “Zoomba” session, with blasts from the past videos, songs, musical performances, and many rounds of virtual group hugs.
A collaboration between Caritas Singapore-Agape Village (Agape Village) and Yishun Health, Share-A-Pot @ Agape Village started in 2016 as a community-based project aimed to build bones, brawn and brain, and through broth, for community-dwelling seniors and to transform neighbourhoods into communities.
At the 5th Anniversary virtual event, special guest Dr Wong Sweet Fun, Clinical Director, Population Health & Community Transformation, Yishun Health, expressed her delight at the tenacity of the Caritas Singapore staff and volunteers, and Share-A-Pot (SAP) participants who have stuck with the programme since it started and even during the pandemic when the programme moved online from 5th October 2020. The SAP team works to engage seniors each week with different themes and frequent quizzes!
One of the SAP volunteer leaders and a participant share their hopes and best wishes for the programme:
“On its 5th Anniversary, my wish is for SAP to evolve into a more self-sustaining programme, where the volunteers and elder warriors form decentralised miniature SAPs in the communities, having been inspired with the core benefits of developing brawn, brain and bonding; and, not forgetting learning how to cook their own broth.” – Jake Wong, SAP volunteer leader
“Hip hip hurray! Three cheers for the SAP team for gathering and co-ordinating five years of activities with meticulous details and keeping us spellbound! Thank you team for a memorable 5th Anniversary virtual celebration of Share-A-Pot @ Agape Village. May the Almighty bless us all with good health to celebrate the 6th Anniversary at our very own Caritas Singapore-Agape Village the following year!” – Vimala Krishnan, SAP participant
