C4C Timeline

The Caritas Singapore C4C Timeline highlights ways we collaborate with our family of charities and the Catholic community to incorporate C4C values into our social mission work, using our public voice to raise awareness on the impact of climate change, global warming, and environmental protection.

Principle of the Dignity of Creation 

The Dignity of Creation, a Catholic Social Teaching principle, reminds us that we are all stewards of the Earth.

May 2015

During the Laudato Si’ Week in 2015, Pope Francis called upon us to care for our Common Home.

2016

Eliminated the use of disposables, where possible, at all Caritas Singapore family events. Volunteers work together to wash plates and bowls in the kitchen @ Caritas Agape Village.

August 2019

A young growing leaf is added to the Caritas Singapore logo to symbolise the nurturing effects of Caring for Creation.

September 2019

A special edition of the “Caritas in Mission” newsletter with a theological reflection by Fr David Garcia, O.P., titled Stewards of the Earth, was distributed in all parishes.

October 2019

Ongoing efforts to “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”

May 2020

Put together a series of daily life hacks contributed by the community and Caritas Singapore staff on how to incorporate simple, sustainable habits at home and launched it on social media during the Laudato Si’ Week

June-July 2020

Launched the #CaritasSGHealOurHome campaign, featuring a poster series of “Did you know” facts to raise awareness about the climate crisis and what we can do to create a positive change.

August 2020

Conducted an online roundtable themed “Heal our Home”, bringing together various stakeholders to discuss environmental issues and learn how to be effective stewards of the Earth.

November 2021

Church of St Ignatius organised an inaugural Climate Action Conference, in collaboration with Caritas Singapore, for Catholic parishes in Singapore to promote awareness of and inspire action towards the Laudato Si’ goals announced by Pope Francis.
