Code of Governance

Code

Caritas Singapore is committed to good governance. It has thus developed a code of governance to articulate and communicate the governance standards and best practices it intends to uphold.

The Caritas Singapore Code of Governance (“the Caritas Singapore Code”) builds on the Code of Governance for Charities and IPCs first issued by the Charity Council in November 2007 (“the Charity Council Code”). The differences between the two Codes are described in Appendix 1 of the Caritas Singapore Code.

In general, the Caritas Singapore Code provides, where appropriate, further specifics of Caritas Singapore’s implementation of the principles. In particular, there is an additional section on a Code of Ethics for Caritas Singapore, reflecting the importance of Catholic ethos and values in Caritas Singapore’s functioning.

Since its formation, Caritas Singapore, as part of its annual report to stakeholders, provides a yearly report on its corporate governance. This report describes Caritas Singapore’s actual compliance with the Charity Council Code for the last year.
