Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are my donations to Caritas Singapore tax deductible?

Yes, donations to Caritas Singapore qualify for 250% tax deduction. You do not need to declare the donation amount in your income tax return. Tax deductions for qualifying donations will be automatically reflected in your tax assessments based on the information from Caritas Singapore. All individuals and businesses are required to provide their identification number (e.g., NRIC/FIN/UEN) when making donations to Caritas Singapore to be given tax deductions on the donations.

Is donating to Caritas Singapore the same as donating to Catholic Foundation or CHARIS?

No, they are all different organisations. Contributions to Caritas Singapore go to addressing underserved needs in our community. We serve people, regardless of race or religion, from low-income families, children, at risk youth, the elderly, victims of domestic violence, the incarcerated, low-wage migrants, and people with physical disabilities or mental health conditions, assisting their welfare with the required resources.

Meanwhile, contributions to Catholic Foundation are for the use of the Archdiocese of Singapore for the work of formation and evangelisation. They fund causes supported by the archbishop that are aligned to the vision of the archdiocese to build a more vibrant, evangelising, and missionary Church.

For CHARIS, Caritas Singapore and CHARIS are both organisations that fulfil the Church’s social mission. However, Caritas Singapore focuses on serving communities in Singapore, while CHARIS focuses on overseas humanitarian aid and efforts.
